Shervin Akhavi graduated with a Masters degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Darmstadt in 2001. His thesis was the design of a passive house row house complex, where three space heating options were compared in terms of cost and their environmental performance. In 2004 he joined GreenSaver. Shervin worked for several years as an energy auditor, specialising in making upgrade recommendations to the older building stock.
In 2007 Shervin began performing broader, more technical energy audits (lighting, water and building shell) for commercial and large ecclesiastical buildings. In more recent years he was instrumental in the renewable portfolio, putting both solar hot water systems and PV systems on Toronto roofs. He is a founding member of Passive Buildings Canada and sits on the board of directors. He is a Level I certified thermographer.
